A group of PGI employees took part in the XV school-conference “Problems of Geocosmos”

On April 22-26, 2024, a group of employees of the Polar Geophysical Institute took part in the XV school conference “Problems of Geocosmos”, which is held by the Department of Physics of St. Petersburg State University once every two years, since 1994.

Research conducted in the broad field of Earth sciences was highlighted in the following sections: “Dynamics of the ozone layer”, “Paleomagnetism and magnetism of rocks”, “Seismology and Geodynamics”. The section “Solar-terrestrial Physics” closest to our institute on the subject includes the following areas: Solar Physics, Space climate and space weather, Magnetospheric phenomena, Interactions in the magnetosphere-ionosphere-atmosphere system.

Our employees Belakhovsky V.B., Dashkevich Zh.V., Demekhov A.G., Despirak I.V., Kirillov A.S., Larchenko A.V., Lyubchich A.A., Lyubchich V.A., Nikitenko A.S., Popova T.A., Chernyakov S.M., Yakhnina T.A. reported on their research in person and online, and were also co-authors of the works of colleagues from other institutes represented at the conference. A total of 14 oral and poster presentations were presented by the PGI.

In addition to the scientific program, the organizers of the conference offered an excursion to Kronstadt, and you can visit the famous parks and fountains of Peterhof, which have already been launched at the end of April, in your free time from meetings.
