XVIII International Scientific Conference of Students and Postgraduates “Problems of the Arctic Region”
On May 15, 2019, the XVIII International Scientific Conference of Students and Postgraduates “Problems of the Arctic Region” was held in Murmansk. The conference was organized and conducted by scientific and educational organizations of the Murmansk region: Polar Geophysical Institute, FRC Kola Science Center RAS, Murmansk Marine Biological Institute KSC RAS, Murmansk Arctic State University, Murmansk State Technical University. At the opening of the conference, Mokrushin Artem Vasilyevich (Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences) presented the report “New approaches in the study of the Kola region geology” to the participants of the plenary session. Then the conference was continued in the working sections “Arctic Hydrobiology and Ichthyology”, “Biology and Medicine”, “Geology and Geophysics of the Arctic Region. Chemical and technological problems”, “Humanitarian and social problems”, “Information technology and mathematical methods. Physical problems”, “Problems of education in the Arctic region”, “Ecology and medical and biological problems of the North”, “Economic problems of the development of the Arctic”. 136 reports were presented at the sections on topical issues of the Arctic region and youth participation in the development of the North. Before the beginning of the conference, abstracts and a conference program were issued. Winners were identified at each section, and they were presented with diplomas and gifts. The conference was attended by over 200 people from the cities of Apatity, Arkhangelsk, Kaluga, Kirovsk, Murmansk, St. Petersburg, Bodo, Morgentown, Lawrence. According to the results of the conference, works will be published.
