School-Seminar “Polar Processes in Atmospheres of Planets”

Planetary atmospheres:

from terrestrial planets to exoplanets

March 25-27, 2019, Apatity

March 25-27, 2019 at the Polar Geophysical Institute (Apatity) will host a scientific conference and a school of young scientists “Atmospheres of planets: from the terrestrial group to exoplanets.” The conference is organized with the participation of the laboratory “Atmospheres of the terrestrial planets and exoplanets” of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the laboratory of applied infrared spectroscopy at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

The conference is devoted to the study of the atmospheres of the terrestrial planets: Earth, Venus, Mars from modern physical processes from the troposphere to the exosphere of the Earth, Mars, Venus and Saturn’s satellite Titan, polar processes in the atmospheres. The conference will discuss both experimental methods of remote study of atmospheric physical processes, as well as the latest observational data of the planets of the solar system, results and methods of numerical modeling of atmospheric dynamics. A special place will be given to modern achievements in the field of exoplanet research, the prospects for the development of methods for detecting earth-like planets outside the solar system.

The working language of the conference is Russian, but foreign conference participants can submit their reports in English. School-conference involves several lecture reports, and working papers can be presented either verbally or in the form of poster presentations. To participate in the conference registration fee is not expected.

Participation of employees of the laboratory is welcome. Please send information (before March 4) about your participation and the title of the reports in English to Inna Shashkova shi@iki.rssi.ru with a copy to fedorova@iki.rssi.ru.

Program:

1. Atmospheres of the terrestrial planets: Earth, Venus, Mars.

2. Polar processes in the atmosphere.

3. Exospheres of the planets.

4. Exoplanets.
