PGI employees made a scientific expedition to the Svalbard archipelago

The staff of the Polar Geophysical Institute made a scientific expedition to the Svalbard archipelago, to the observatory of the Barentsburg Research Institute. The expedition took place from August 17 to September 14 , 2023 .

During the scientific expedition, the modernization and adjustment of the work of scientific equipment for the registration of cosmic rays, ionospheric parameters, electromagnetic variations was carried out: a neutron monitor, a gamma detector, a receiver of electromagnetic VLF signals. An antenna and a radiometric receiver are installed (the system is running in test mode). Optical instruments for the registration of auroras were put into operation.
