Staff of the Polar Geophysical Institute participated in the 20th Annual Conference “Plasma Physics in the Solar System”, which took place on February 10-14, 2025, and featured 20 oral and poster presentations.
The conference is held once a year in a mixed format (face-to-face and online) at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow) and is devoted to theoretical and experimental studies of processes in space plasma.: in the Sun, in the solar wind, in the ionosphere and magnetosphere of the Earth and other planets of the Solar system, including problems of space weather forecasting, wave processes in the cosmic plasma, current layers.
This year, the conference gathered almost 400 participants and more than 300 reports, both oral and online. The reports are grouped into 12 main and special sections. Main topics: “Theory and observations of the Sun”, “Solar wind and heliosphere”, “Ionosphere”, “Magnetosphere”, “Theory and observation of current layers. The section is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Ivanovich Syrovatsky”, “Space weather”, “Wave phenomena in cosmic plasma”, “The impact of cosmic factors on the atmosphere and climate of the Earth”. Special topics: “The outer heliosphere”, “Atmospheric-magnetospheric relations among the planets of the Solar System”, “Space weather and Medicine”, “Nonlinearity and self-organization in plasma”.
A “plenary hour” was held every day in the middle of the day, dedicated to the most relevant topics of modern plasma research in Russia and review reports.
