PGI employee participated in the conference of the International Association for Geomagnetism and Aeronomy
Vladimir Borisovich Belakhovsky, a leading researcher at the Polar Geophysical Institute, Ph.D., took part in the Conference of the International Association for Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA/IASPEI 2025 Joint Scientific Meeting), held on August 31 – September 5 2025 in the city of Lisbon (Portugal).
A wide range of issues were discussed at the conference: space weather, the magnetosphere of the Earth and planets, processes in the neutral atmosphere, paleomagnetism, sounding of the lithosphere, processes in the Sun, auroral phenomena, atmospheric electricity, etc.
Reports were presented by V.B. Belakhovsky:
- Belakhovsky Vladimir, Pilipenko Vjacheslav, Selivanov Vasily, Sakharov Yaroslav. The extreme GICs occurrence during 11 years of observations in the North-West of Russia;
- Belakhovsky Vladimir, Pilipenko Vjacheslav. Contribution of poloidal Pc4 waves to the acceleration of electrons of the outer radiation belt to MeV energies.
In total, 1,262 participants were registered at the conference, 959 reports were presented, of which more than 400 were poster presentations.
